An award-winning journalist and author, Carmel has worked on Tatler, InStyle and Livingetc magazines, was part of the launch team on Financial Times How to Spend It magazine, and was health and beauty editor of Vogue UK. She founded the Kiss It Better campaign for children with cancer in 2003 with Estée Lauder Companies and Great Ormond Street Hospital. Her passion for design transferred to retail, when she was director at Heal's and The Conran Shop. Carmel studied archaeology and specialised in medieval cemeteries.
